Macromedia Flash Mathematical Curves Movement

This Macromedia Flash clip demonstrates a set of curve movements. I have a soft spot for Macromedia Flash because of its familiar interface and approach to design. In 1987, when I was much younger, I used to make money by developing video clips for camera studios. Back then, I used a Commodore 64 computer (www.c64.com) to do things that were very similar to what we do today with Flash. The big difference is that in the 1980s, the only way to program high-performance animation was to use machine language.

In fact, I programmed these very same exact curve movements using 6502 machine language in 1989. If you can figure out the mathematical equation that generates these motions, I’ll treat you to a dinner! Send me your comments at ali@moeen.com

The tools and technologies that I used to build this animation include:

  • Macromedia Falsh
  • Macromedia Falsh ActionScripts
  • Poser V4
  • Swift 3D V3

I’ll publish the .fla source file here once someone wins the dinner.
